Pages

Welcome to my blog. I will post whatever I am working on, whether it be a creative writing piece, random blip that has made my day, or an opinion I would like to share with the world. I hope that you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing!

All ideas are my original work. I do not take credit for work that is not mine. I may borrow pieces such as comics, definitions, or quotations, but will never pass someone else’s work off as my own; I will either credit their source or make it clear that I am not their author. I merely use these as either bouncing boards from which my own ideas can take off, or wish to share something that I found worth repeating.

Remember, today is not simply something to get through, but something to treasure. So smile and enjoy it!!!

Recipe for Success

Everyone wants to be successful.  We all have dreams and goals for our lives.  If you don't, you should get going on that first.  Here is how you can get what you want in life:

  • 1 cup of Determination
  • a dash of Hope
  • (optional, but suggested) a pinch of Help from others
Combine and stir until desired consistency.

Cynosure

Cynosure - noun - an object that is the focal point of attention; something that guides by centering attention

The North Star was the lost traveler's cynosure in the sky that led him home.

My Love Could Kill Me

I could be blinded by your smile.
I could melt by your touch.
I could drown in your eyes.
I could suffocate in your voice.
I could get lost in YOU.

My love for you is dangerous.
Although it could strike me dead,
I wouldn't trade it for life itself.

Questions to Think About

When was the last time you laughed uncontrollably?

When was the last time you just couldn’t stop smiling?

When was the last time you cried tears of joy?

Happiness comes in every size, shape, and form.  Each bit is a gift that should be treasured and remembered.  Hold on to what makes you happy.  Let go of what doesn't.

Patience - Random Rant

When you live in an apartment, dorm, or other residencies where you are in close proximity to other people, it takes a lot of patience to not go bat-shit insane on your neighbors for making a lot of noise.

I know I am not a mouse, but it never fails.  I ALWAYS seem to get someone next door AND right above me, that make it seem as if they are perpetually building a secret passage to Narnia.  I would not be the least bit surprised, if one day someone either breaks through my wall or falls through my ceiling.  That might actually be a relief; assuming that might be a sign to them that they are being too loud...

What the HECK do people do in their rooms?  I like to sleep, rest, and do work...but I DO realize that I am a little weird.

I should jump on the band wagon and learn to tap dance, throw large parties, and use a screw driver.  Apparently that is what good neighbors are supposed to do for each other.  As long as you don't start making noise until around 11 pm.  Any earlier, and you just might let your building sleep a few undisturbed hours!  Now what would be the fun in that?

Movies I am Looking Forward To: Ted

WARNING:  This video is not appropriate for all audiences, but funny nonetheless.

I just think it is so cute!  I personally have had a strong connection to my stuffed animals, and it is so nice to see that other adults have to.

Equal Pay Day Flash Mob

I just LOVE these Flash Mobs!  I think they are so well rehearsed and must be so weird to be in (but awesome to watch!).

April 12th is Equal Pay Day.  Women are not paid the same as men.  These women took a stand in Washington DC.  I love their song choices, and can never look at (or hear) those songs the same way again.

Thought for the Day

  Life is a fleeting privilege.
Dreams are not something to wait around for,
but something to RUN after.

Challenge: Go Screenless

Today it is very difficult to not be looking at a screen.  There are televisions, digital clocks, and computers to name the most common.  But then we have cell phones, iPads and iPods, Kindles, Nooks, and other e-readers and tablets.
How much time do we individually spend hypnotized by a screen?  That is difficult to say.  But I would suggest that everyone tries to go a whole day (yes, 24 hours), without using or looking at a screen.  It will be difficult.  It may be painful for some.  And you cannot control everything.  So yes, when you are at the gas station, if you catch a glimpse of the television screen (that’s a whole nother topic inandofitself), you are still doing okay.  As long as you do not find yourself actually WATCHING your screen or your neighbor’s, glimpses are essentially unavoidable.
I’ll try it too (and may even write about it…when the cleanse is over).
     No TV.
     No emails.
     No cell phones or texting.
     For one full day.
     Starting now.
Or are you too weak for the challenge?
